Putting Legal Blockades on Supply of Methamphetamine and Crystal Meth in New Mexico

Due to the El Paso region which gets a very significant supply of methamphetamine from Mexico and the neighboring states, the amount of methamphetamine addiction in New Mexico has been extensive. In the last ten years, this number has increased. But recent statistics show that there are signs of a decreasing meth addiction in New Mexico. This trend has been brought about because of the strong prevalence of laws that curtail the supply of methamphetamine within the state. The Border Patrol Checkpoints coming into New Mexico are heavily manned. There are also several interdiction stops on the highways. This is where a lot of methamphetamine coming into the state has been captured and prevented from getting inside. There are similar stringent checks performed on the routes coming in from California and, most notably, Arizona, which is considered to be a major supplier of methamphetamine in New Mexico, especially from the Phoenix area.

New Mexico also had a prevalence of clandestinely operated meth labs. Each of these labs once upon a time would produce ten pounds of the substance and distribute it within the local market. The whip has been cracked on these meth labs through the Clandestine Laboratory Seizure System conducted prominently within the state. In fact, since last year, the number of such labs has decreased by over two hundred percent because of this operation. This has really helped to take care of the crystal meth addiction in New Mexico, because crystal meth is the substance that these labs primarily produced and sold in the nightclubs of the area with the slang name of ice.
