Why is the Danger of Methamphetamine and Crystal Meth in Wyoming rising?
July 9, 2008
In the last few years, there has been a heavy presence of methamphetamine and crystal meth in the state of Wyoming. It can be said that until about a decade ago, these substances were not present at all in the state. But in the last ten years, due to various methods of influx, the levels of methamphetamine and crystal meth in Wyoming have increased beyond danger levels. In fact, this level is getting to be so high that methamphetamine in Wyoming is easily threatening the popularity of the other recreational drugs used in the state, such as marijuana, cocaine and heroin.
The main reason why methamphetamine comes in the state in such a large number is the illicit road trafficking that goes on. Despite all the highway interdiction points that are set up in the state lately, there hasn’t been a total control over the substance. Roadways are the most commonly used form of transport by the traffickers and the substance comes in from almost all the neighboring states as well as from Mexico, where methamphetamine is produced in large quantity.
Another reason why there is such an increase in this kind of drug addiction in Wyoming in recent times is because of the presence of a large number of clandestinely operating small labs, where meth is produced locally and from very simple substances like cough syrup, antifreeze, lantern fuel, etc. These small labs are not that small after all, considering that each of them can produce up to ten pounds of methamphetamine and crystal meth which is distributed in the local market.
